Suicide Call Back Service
24/7 free professional crisis counselling for anyone affected by suicide. Up to six scheduled call-backs with the same counsellor.
About this service
The Suicide Call Back Service offers 24/7 free professional telephone, video, and online counselling for people 15 years and over. Unlike a one-off crisis call, it offers up to six scheduled call-backs with the same counsellor, which can be useful for a small business owner managing ongoing pressure without the resources for private psychology.
When to use
Thinking about suicide. Worried about someone who might be. Bereaved by suicide and need to talk to someone who is qualified to help.
When not to use
Acute medical emergency — call 000. For business or financial counselling, call SBDH or NewAccess.
Who they help
Anyone affected by suicide — including people experiencing suicidal thoughts, people who have attempted suicide, people bereaved by suicide, and those caring for someone at risk.
Who they don't help
Not a financial or business adviser. Not for matters unrelated to suicide or self-harm risk.
Strengths
24/7. Professionally qualified counsellors. Scheduled call-back option provides continuity.
Limitations
Focused specifically on suicide and self-harm — for general distress, Lifeline is also appropriate.
